The DRBA Celebrates Sustainability with WGL Energy

6/22/2022

On June 1, 2022, a longtime customer of WGL Energy Services — the Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA), which owns and operates vital transportation services like the Delaware Memorial Bridge and Cape May-Lewis Ferry in the heart of the Northeast Corridor — had a lot to celebrate!

For starters, WGL Energy headed to the Delaware Memorial Park as a sponsor when the DRBA hosted its World Environment Day (#onlyoneearth) event to honor climate action and environmental protection!

Our event participants report that more than 400 visitors came by to take in the view of the water, bright sunshine, and interact with exhibitors to learn more about how to help the environment. WGL Energy provided information to passersby and interested parties on renewable energy options like wind power and Carbon Offset programs as steps toward lowering carbon footprint.

In addition, news was out that the DRBA, a customer of electricity from WGL Energy since 2014, recently purchased Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) from WGL Energy, reflecting its commitment to sustainability. There are a lot more details in our news announcement – for more information, link here.

We are proud of the DRBA and our close collaboration while we take the sustainable energy journey together.
