The Smart and Sustainable Campuses Conference was held in Baltimore, Maryland, from April 4-5, 2016. This year’s theme was Measuring Our Impact and, as a Silver Sponsor, WGL Energy Services, Inc. (WGL Energy) donated 105 Green-e® Climate certified carbon offsets to counterbalance conference emissions from energy use at the event space, hotel stays, ground transportation and land-filled waste. This year’s offsets were generated by preventing the release of methane from a landfill near Winchester, Virginia.
The image below illustrates the environmental benefit of our donation of Green-e® Climate certified carbon offsets to the Smart and Sustainable Campuses Conference over the past five years:
Participants who visited with us at the conference had an opportunity to learn more about our clean and efficient energy solutions for campuses, including solar and wind power, energy efficiency, carbon reduction and more.
In 2015, WGL Energy donated a total of 443 carbon offsets to counterbalance the emissions that resulted from various events we sponsored.
