On the evening of Thursday, May 18, 2017, WGL Energy Services (WGL Energy) hosted and sponsored the second session of a two-part series, Smarter Energy – Who Cares, in its Tysons Corner, Virginia office. The series was organized by Potential Energy DC, a technology incubator focused on technology solutions.
Speakers for the evening included:
• Dr. Sokwoo Rhee, Lead for Smarter Cities, U.S. NIST (National Institute of Standards)
• George D. Thomas, Managing Partner, New Urban Informatics, LLC
• Clint Zediak, Vice President of Sales, WGL Energy Services
After introductory remarks by WGL Energy’s Brian Lenaghan and Potential Energy’s David McCarthy, each speaker delivered a brief presentation on the importance of energy intelligence on a broad scale. The speakers concluded their remarks with one big idea, which included insights like: “everything is connected,” “a smart city is an IoT ecosystem,” and “energy spend is what happens when you’re running your business.”
Clint Zediak’s remarks included a video presentation on Distributed Impact, a series of solutions that can help organizations navigate fluctuating energy markets, efficiently plan their energy spend, consistently stay connected in times of crisis and even increase sustainability and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
