Herndon, Va. - Washington Gas Energy Services, Inc. (WGES), one of the largest competitive energy suppliers in the Mid-Atlantic region, today announced that it has acquired all of Castlebridge Energy Group's (CEG) residential and small commercial electric and natural gas retail contracts. Without service disruption, all contracts will transfer to Washington Gas Energy Services under the existing price and terms.
"With more than 17 years in business, we have the expertise and financial stability to fulfill the obligations of these supply contracts and to continue to serve these customers for years to come," said Harry Warren, president of Washington Gas Energy Services. "We are committed to providing CEG's customers with the reliable service and unique green energy options for which we are known."
While customers' contract price and term will not change, their energy supply from Washington Gas Energy Services will be better for the environment. For no additional cost, these residential and small commercial customers will automatically receive 5 percent and 3.5 percent regional wind power, respectively, in their electricity supply, and 5 percent and 3.5 percent WGES CleanSteps® Carbon Offsets, respectively, matched to their natural gas use.
"When we decided to exit the retail energy business, we wanted to ensure we transferred our valued customers to a good corporate citizen with a strong record of customer satisfaction," said H. Bertram Wilson, managing member of Castlebridge Energy Group. "We chose Washington Gas Energy Services because it is one of the most respected electricity and natural gas suppliers in the Mid-Atlantic, with a history of delivering reliable service while helping its customers achieve their environmental sustainability goals."
Letters are being sent to all current CEG customers and utility companies are being notified of the change. More details, including FAQs, are available at www.wges.com/ceg.
